Chemotherapy
We’ve partnered with health providers to give GU Health members the opportunity to receive IV chemotherapy* treatments from the comfort of their home.
Use our Find a Provider tool, opens in a new tab to find a registered IV Chemotherapy provider so you can begin the referral process.
Rest assured, you will maintain full clinical oversight of all your GU Health patient’s health care if you choose to offer these services to your patients.
How it works
Register online with one of GU Health's service providers which can be found using the Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool.
Once registered you can submit referrals for home-based care, including ordering scripts for your GU Health patients.
The service provider will contact your patient to provide more details about the treatment and ask some administrative questions. They will also check their eligibility with GU Health on your behalf.
Once approved, the first 1-3 infusions will usually take place as an inpatient to manage any adverse reactions to the initial treatment. You may choose to transition to home based care sooner when clinically appropriate.
Prescribed compound medication is ordered to the nearest pharmacy under safe cold chain protocols for collection by the service provider.
Your GU Health patient receives treatment from the comfort of their home from a registered nurse.*
You will receive an update within 24 hours via the service providers portal.
You can review your patient's treatment plan every 3-6 months or sooner if clinically necessary.
You will maintain clinical oversight over your GU Health patients, including the dosage and medication.

Haemodialysis in the Home
We’ve partnered with dialysis health care providers to give eligible members, where clinically appropriate, the option to receive Haemodialysis treatments at home. Providers can be found through our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool.
This service helps to:
Reduce time and money spent travelling, and waiting for, treatment at the hospital
Minimise the risk of any infections your patients may catch during their hospital visits
Improve support and connection with the clinical staff with one-on-one appointments
Give your patients more control over their treatment
Receive treatment in a comfortable, familiar and private environment
Cause less disruption to your patients' and their families' daily lives.
How it works
If you have an GU Health patient who you consider is clinically suited to the program, you can submit a referral through one of our selected service provider’s websites, which can be found through our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool. The service provider then determine if they are eligible by checking your patient’s level of cover with GU Health, checking to see if the service is available in their area, and that their home is suitable for delivery of treatment at home.
Once your referral has been processed, the service provider will contact your GU Health patient about their availability and treatment plan. They will then book in a time for machine installation prior to their first at-home appointment.
The service provider will confirm transition dates with the treating hospital before commencing at home treatment.
The service provider will provide regular reports to you on how your patient’s treatment is going.
IV in the Home

This service helps to:

The service provider will then determine if they are eligible by checking your patient’s level of cover with GU Health, checking to see if the service is available in their area, and that their home is suitable for delivery of treatment at home.
Once your referral has been processed, the service provider will contact your GU Health patient about their availability and treatment plan. They will book in a time for treatment 2-3 days post hospital discharge.
The service provider will provide regular reports to you on how your patient’s treatment is going.
Wound Care in the Home

This service helps to:

Orthopaedic Rehabilitation
We’ve partnered with Honeysuckle Health, opens in a new tab and a number of rehabilitation service providers to give eligible members, where clinically appropriate, the option to receive at home rehabilitation after a single or bilateral hip or knee replacement surgery.
This service helps to:
Reduce our members time spent in inpatient services or travelling, and waiting for, physiotherapy treatment post discharge
Give your GU Health patients more control over their treatment and the option to receive treatment in a comfortable, familiar, and private environment
Work on building optimum knee strength and function needed for everyday activities.
Prior to your GU Health patient’s admission
Step 1
If you have a GU Health patient who is clinically suited to the program, you can submit a referral form through one of our selected service providers websites, which can be found through our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool.
Step 2
Our service providers will engage directly with Honeysuckle Health to confirm their availability to administer services in your GU Health patient’s location.
Step 3
One of Honeysuckle Health’s facilitation specialists will contact your GU Health patient to confirm the outcome of the request and answer any other questions they may have about the service.
Step 4
Assuming the eligibility and availability is successful, our service provider will contact your GU Health patient to confirm their first scheduled home visit before they are discharged from hospital.
After your GU Health patient is discharged
Step 5
The Honeysuckle Health facilitation specialist team will contact your GU Health patient 2 days after they have been discharged from hospital.
Step 6
Our service provider will visit your GU Health patient in their home to complete rehabilitation sessions.
IV Autoimmune at Home
We’ve partnered with healthcare providers to give eligible members, where clinically appropriate, the option to receive IV autoimmune infusions at home. Use our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool to find a registered IV autoimmune provider so you can begin the referral process.
This service helps to:
Receive treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and multiple sclerosis comfortable, familiar, and private environment
Reduce time and money spent travelling, and waiting for, treatment at the hospital
Minimise the risk of any infections your patients may catch during their hospital visits
Improve support and connection with the clinical staff with one-on-one appointments
Give your patients more control over their treatment
Cause less disruption to your patients’, and their families’, daily lives
Treatment does not include iron infusions, or immunotherapy treatment for treatment of cancer.

The service provider will provide regular reports to you on how your patient’s treatment is going.
Palliative Care at Home
We’ve partnered with healthcare providers to give eligible members, where clinically appropriate, the option to receive palliative care services at home. The services also enables members to access palliative care in hospital if clinically required, or to transition to in-hospital care, when and if their preference changes. This service delivers holistic care and support to members with a life-limiting condition who are in their last months of life. Palliative Care at Home is tailored to individual needs and can include some or all of the following services:
Access to a palliative care specialist
Coordination and clinical care provided by palliative care nurses
Daytime and/or overnight support from Nursing and/or Assistant in Nursing (AIN)
Specialist medical and nursing telephone support, available 24/7 by the service provider
Please note:
Services do not include bereavement support for family and carers
Family and carers are urged to consider speaking with their GP or accessing bereavement support resources.
What to expect
If you have an GU Health patient who you consider is clinically suited to receive Palliative Care at Home services, you can submit a referral form through one of our selected service providers websites, which can be found through our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool.
Once your referral has been processed, the service provider will contact your patient about their availability to deliver Palliative Care at Home services.
The service provider will provide regular reports to you based on service delivery for your patient.
Alcohol Detoxification at Home
We’ve partnered with healthcare providers to offer eligible members, where clinically appropriate, the option to safely withdraw and detox from alcohol in the comfort of their home, rather than being admitted as hospital inpatients. Use our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool to find a registered Alcohol Detoxification at Home provider so you can begin the referral process.
This service provides:
Nursing assessment for the patient
Access to technology supports and resources for patients
Specialist GP review before and after the patient's detox
The patient will undergo a medical detox from alcohol with daily monitoring
A follow up with the patient 12-months after the conclusion of the program
Regular communication with the patient's GP
Draft GP management plan outlining any ongoing care requirements.
What to expect
If you have an GU Health patient who you consider is clinically suited for the Alcohol Detoxification at Home program, you can submit a referral form through one of our selected service providers websites, which can be found through our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool.
Spaces in this pilot program are limited for now, but we aim to expand availability in the future.
Referred members will be required to complete a suitability questionnaire, opens in a new tab before being approved for at home-based treatment.
Once your referral has been processed and your patient has been approved, the service provider will contact your patient about their availability and treatment plan.
The service provider will provide regular reports to you on how your patient’s treatment is going.
